Update 8/21 - Soft Foods

The Novena of Thanksgiving continues!  Join us in prayer!

Thomas had a good day overall. Natalie and Thomas had breakfast together; Thomas called it their first "breakfast date" since his accident.  He was able to try a variety of foods during the day including: pudding, fruit cup, thickened orange juice, raspberry greek yogurt, lasagna, mashed potatoes, carrots, salad, and applesauce.  Not bad for day 2 of eating!  Natalie is brainstorming about ways to boost the unexciting hospital food.  A friend is coming today with some food items that Thomas specifically requested to try.

Thomas was able to read a little more on his Kindle again - turning pages by himself.  He sat in his chair for 3 hours while Natalie read cards and notes and they enjoyed chatting together.  3 hours was a bit too much and he was in a lot of pain for the rest of the afternoon.

As of the update Natalie sent us, Thomas was still off the vent - they were shooting for 24 hours!  We will let you know as soon as that goal is hit!

As always, thank you for your continued prayers and support!

  1. I'm curious; how is Thom getting most of his nutrition? Naso-gastric tube, intravenous, something else? (I'm praying that by the time this gets answered, the answer is "by mouth!")
